Holy crap I want the whole new BPAL update except for Berry Moon.

So, Summer reading. I didn't read anything last month, so I've got slightly less than 2 months to read 50 books and watch 10 films. I can totally do it. Just need to turn off this 'internet' thing.

In any case, I'm looking for some recommendations in the following categories:

Foreign Films
Suspense novels. (Sidebar. WTF is a suspense novel? That's not a thing!)

The other categories are Bestsellers, Plays/Books into Film, Biographies, and Potpourri. I'm so mad at summer reading this year. I may engage in shenanigans for 'Bestsellers'.

I guess if you have any other recommendations, that's cool, too.

Yay! My Allinghams arrived today! Scored the lovely, lovely F&M reprints of The Crime at Black Dudley and Mystery Mile for $11 altogether including shipping. RSV: $14.95 apiece! Eeeexcellent.

So pretty. Have to keep my eye out for my bargains on these and also Crispins.

1. Pick a number or two between 1 and 6144.
2. I'll find the corresponding track in my iTunes library.
3. Said track will be uploaded for your listening pleasure.
4. There is no four. Do it too! I wanna hear your music.

Yeah, 6144 songs. I know. I have a problem.

After yesterday's Yarn Crisis, a gal from Ravelry is sending me her 40 ft remnant of Cascade 220 #9474. All I need. Knitting's done, need to hem, sew in ends, and do a bit of darning in one patch.

EPIC levels of DO WANT OMG.

The Starman omnibuses arrived today. So shiiiiny. Perfect condition, seriously. Turns out they took so long because I had major address fail. Ah well. They arrived! With any luck, my Heavy Ink order will get here tomorrow.

Oh, I also won an auction for two of the new Margery Allingham editions on ebay for $11 including shipping, which is fabulous. Also had address fail, and I'm not sure the seller got my message, so those might be a couple of weeks, alas.

Heckuva weekend. Everyone's dying, Iran's still happening, and there was a military coup in Honduras. Sheesh.

It's Hitchcock marathon day on TCM! And they're showing all my favorites! Staying up until 6 am tomorrow is totally the worst idea, and I really, really want to.

Someone talk me down!

You're on my list, Cartoon Network.

If you're really that curious, they're pushing back the remaining four episodes of Batman: the Brave and the Bold until possibly fall. VERY UPSET. But apparently Neil Patrick Harris is going to be in the musical episode, so...HOORAY! BUT STILL ANGRY, CARTOON NETWORK.

Lost Allingham lot. Saaaad.

Won both Starman omnibuses for a combined total of $41.50, though, so that's exciting. (They retail for $50 apiece, sooo.)

I'm probably going to hit 30 hours at work this week! AWESOME. It seems there is drama afoot, though. M. was being all shifty about the (as yet unposted) schedule for next week. I'm like 95% sure that I'm not involved though, so as usual, I'll keep my head down and carry on.

I've got a bunch of tv/other stuff reviews I want to post, but I'm pretty knocked out from work and my own insomnia issues, so I'm not really sure when that'll happen, especially since I have no idea when my next day off is (WHERE IS THE SCHEDULE).

Now that I'm finally getting hours, this newfound cash (which is teeechnically earmarked for a car and college and stuff) is burning a hole in my pocket. There's a 14 book lot of Margery Allingham books on eBay that's ending right before I head off to work, and I think I'm going to try to snipe them. They're up for disgustingly little right now, and CAMPION, bitches. (There's also a set of Crispin omnibuses I have my eye on, but that'll probably get to more than I want to spend.)

Going to the doctor on Monday. Hilariously, I'm going to be meeting my doctor for the first time ever. He's been my doctor for like 8 years. I feel bad for wasting his time when I'm basically going in for a referral (got some stuff that looks like skin cancer), but the appointment is made!

A. Anyone who looks at this entry has to post this meme and their current wallpaper at their LiveJournal.

B. Explain in five sentences why you're using that wallpaper.

C. Don't change your wallpaper before doing this. The point is to see what you had on!

This, friends, is Ace the fuckin' Bathound head-butting a tiger. The question is not why am I using this wallpaper, but, rather, why aren't you?

It's a still from the best episode of Batman: the Brave and the Bold to date. And if you haven't seen it, I feel sorry for you. You should really make that happen. I will abet you if necessary.

Dear Russell T. Davies,

I certainly hope you're happy. I can't take apologies seriously any more! I've been watching and reading the most delightful tearjerkers recently, and thanks to you, I feel even less than I usually do.

I'm so sorry,

Lis

Finally all caught up on Ashes to Ashes! I tell you what, it's going to be downright bizarre going into next week without spoilers.

Obviously, because I'm completely predictable, I still love Gene.

What is this...real life you speak of... )

But enough of my maudlin self. Onto media wrap-up frenzy!

Television! )

Books! )

Music! )

Lastly, I also finally read Starman, which is amaaazing. Definitely want to scrape together my pennies to buy the hardcovers if I can. The stories are fine enough for cape comics, but the art is gorgeous. I love the coloring, and all the art deco is just...guh.

Also, Better Off Ted got renewed! V. excited. I know it's not very popular, but it's insanely funny and smart, which is why I was expecting ABC to strike it down unceremoniously. I highly recommend at least trying it out if you like extremely quirky comedies, and there are only 7 episodes to catch up on. (*COUGH [info]orange_avocado COUGH*)

*sigh*

Fucked up running this last week. I guess missing a day/4 day break isn't a DISASTER, but now I don't really know what I should do. Should I move on to week 4? Week 3 was pretty rough, but that might because of the course I've been running. If I get out early enough, I might be able to hit the track before the other guy does (I feel weird about using the track when someone else is already there.)

In any case, I think I'm going to start doing week 1 on the off days. I get that pushing full steam ahead every day is a bad idea, but not doing something every day is hard on my muscles and my brain.

Run run run run.

Shit. Shit shit shit.

I am fairly certain I will never be getting a driver's license at this point. There's just no way. I can't relax enough to drive with either my mother OR father, and there isn't anyone else (my brother isn't 21 until August...).
